At Wild Rose Escapes we run craft, wild cookery and relaxation holidays from Strathglass in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Our craft holidays concentrate on collecting and using natural dyes, felt making and batik. Our cookery courses teach foraging for wild foods and a range of prehistoric and traditional cooking methods outdoors.

Our relaxation retreats combine elements of craft and cooking with yoga, walking and wildlife. We run day, weekend and week long escapes. Our pre-arranged holidays have no more than six places available and we can organise bespoke short breaks for groups of 2 or more and longer holidays for groups of 4-10 people.

Our holidays are run from Crochail Wood, 100 acres of forest which is home to much wildlife, including red squirrels and pine martins.

We are both qualified archaeologists and also have lots of catering experience, including cooking for people with all sorts of special dietary requirements. Our food comes from a network of small, local producers of delicious, natural ingredients. We also have a network of people who run some elements of our holidays, including wildlife experts, walking guides and yoga teachers.

We try to ensure that as well as getting the activities you have come here for, that you also go away having had a real taste of Highland life, including its natural and social history, the interesting people who live here and the relaxing pace of life. Our aim is for you to take a little piece of the Highlands home with you, be it memories of stunning landscapes, borrowed recipes, dirty boots or just the peace and tranquillity of one of Europe's last great wildernesses.

In 2011 we won a Virgin Responsible Tourism award for our holidays and courses. This year we have added and improved our holidays and courses, in an effort to continually be at the forefront of ethical, responsible tourism.

"The holiday was great. It exceeded both our expectations. Rosie and Alex are a fantastic team and couldn't have been better hosts, keeping us busy, fed and entertained the whole weekend. The other thing to say is that Rosie is an excellent cook and has designed some brilliant dishes with foraged ingredients. The setting is absolutely beautiful and will revive the most frazzled of minds. We'd love to go again and try another season as my husband was a big fan of Rosie's sloe vodka." Heather P.
