Travel by Coach

Rapsons are the main public service bus operator throughout the Highlands. They operate services from Inverness to Strathglass and the nearby villages of Beauly and Drumnadrochit. Visitors might like to note that bus timetables vary according to factors such as public and school holidays - as well as days of the week - there are no buses to or from Strathglass on Sundays. Some services do not run at all when schools are closed. Timetables may change with the seasons so if bus services are important to your visit it might be advisable to check direct with the company.

For more information on Rapsons bus services visit: www.rapsons.co.uk

Current timetables for routes to/from Strathglass can be downloaded at: Rapson Timetable

Local Transport

A number of bus services operated by a local company, Ross's Minibuses (Tel/Fax: 01463 761250 Mobile: 0780 1988491), supplement those offered by the larger companies.

  • Tomich-Cannich-Beauly-Inverness-Beauly-Cannich-Tomich (Tuesday Only)
  • Tomich-Cannich-Beauly-Dingwall-Beauly-Cannich-Tomich (Every Friday only)
  • Inverness-Drumnadrochit-Cannich-Drumnadrochit-Inverness (Peak Summer Only)
  • Glen Affric Bus

Starting 7th July through till early September - we would be more accurate if the operators had the sense to produce a timetable in advance! We gather it runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Departing from Inverness through Beauly to Cannich with several hops between the village and Glen Affric through the day. Returns to Inverness via Drumnadrochit and Loch Ness in the early evening. For further info contact Ross's as above. We will list the full timetable when it is available.

Rail Travel

Although rail companies still receive a lot of criticism over services, the re-opening of the railway station at Beauly a few years ago has meant better access for both locals and visitors to Strathglass. This station lies on the route between Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh (via Inverness) so lends itself as a starting point for one or two nice day trips.

Train timetables for services in and out of Invernes from all over Scotland can be downloaded at: Rapsons Timetable. Yes, it is the same link for the bus services but that's the Highlands for you! (The train schedules are at the end of the file).
