Strathglass & Affric Community Company (SACC)

The communities of Strathglass, Glen Affric and Glen Cannich are about to take on the running and management of the village hall in Cannich.

The hall is currently owned by Highland Council. But, by the end of the current financial year, the hall will be owned and managed Strathglass & Affric Community Company Ltd.

Community-owned halls are not a new concept. Many are run this way and do so very successfully.

Due to its size, the hall in Cannich is almost unique in the Highlands making it an ideal venue for dances, sports events, concerts, weddings and parties.

However, because of its age and structure the hall is expensive to run (the heating bills make for alarming reading!).

So the community is about to embark on a project to refurbish and improve the hall. The recently published feasibility study sets out the case for this.
